Attorney Laurel Gilchrist

Attorney Laurel Gilchrist is an experienced litigator and a registered civil and family law mediator with experience in guardianship, Social Security Disability, and other areas.  She joined Applegate & Dillman Elder Law in the summer of 2021 after most recently owning her own civil litigation practice.

Laurel also serves as an Arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) where she has served on arbitration panels for resolutions of disputes within the financial industry.

From 1998-2004, Laurel was Adjunct Faculty at the Robert H. McKinney School of Law and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) where she instructed legal writing and appellate advocacy, as well as academic writing and public speaking.

She also served as a Guardian Ad Litem in Marion County Probate Court where she represented individuals for whom guardianship proceedings had been initiated, performed home studies and served as trial counsel in guardianship proceedings.

Qualifications

Laurel is a graduate of the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington and received her Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University-Bloomington.

Personal

Laurel has two young-adult daughters, and she has enjoyed volunteering with their soccer teams and choirs. She also likes gardening, creative writing, singing, and playing guitar.
